ScanCom International to cease operations.
After several difficult years post COVID-19, and with a view to a continued challenging market situation, the decision has been made to cease operations and close down ScanCom International A/S.
For more than 30 years, ScanCom have produced and traded outdoor furniture for the B2B industry, chiefly out of its main production hub in Vietnam. During that time, millions of pieces of furniture have been produced and shipped to all over the world.
However, following the Covid-pandemic the market shifted drastically and the challenges faced by ScanCom have proved too great to overcome, despite of a dedicated effort from the company supported by external consultants.
Over the past two years, the company has attempted a significant turnaround, following years of declining turnover and cost pressure. While the board and owners have shown great support and patience, and the management team has been changed and strengthened, the required signs to give confidence in a profitable future have unfortunately not materialised.
The focus now shifts towards a controlled, dignified shutdown focusing on protecting the customers who have already placed orders with ScanCom, and discontinuation of the remaining functions in Vietnam and elsewhere.
“We want to ensure a proper and decent handling of our skilful and loyal employees we have at the company in line with our values. We are collaborating with the relevant authorities and unions to facilitate as smooth and good a transition as we can for our employees, both in Vietnam and our other locations around the world, while also upholding our commitments to our customers and partners.” Says Chairman of ScanCom International, Peter Andsager.
ScanCom was founded in Korsør, Denmark, in 1995, and have had commercial and production operations across several countries around the globe – Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, Germany, the UK, Spain to name a handful. In 2019, Lars Larsen Group A/S acquired 100% ownership of the company from the founder, Bøje Bendtzen, after more than a decade of minority ownership
